About

Hi! I'm Meaghan, founder of 'The Botanist'. My original roots come from the beauty industry. For over 20 years I've had the privilege of connecting with people through the art of hair. In recent years I have delved into improving my lifestyle to be more healthful. I finally started to keep plants alive indoors and started gardening and growing microgreens around the same time. Plants brought life to my space and caring for them for me was very therapeutic, not to mention the proven health benefits of being around nature (I brought the jungle inside). Learning how to grow my own food connected me on a whole new level, not to mention the appreciation I gained for farmers and having grocery stores when my crops failed. To me plants are everything, they liven up spaces, they clean our air, they store carbon, they are our food. My goal is to help people learn about how they can use plants to amplify their lives, grow community and learn how we can together work on sustainability in a modern world for a better future.

Create, connect and cultivate.

Bouquets By The Botanist

FRESH CUT FLOWERS

We bring in fresh cut flowers multiple times a week to ensure the freshest cuts for your arrangements. Most of our bouquets are hand tied to perfection and there are multiple ways to enjoy our flowers within all budgets. As we flow through the season so do flowers. We love ordering local Alberta and BC flowers in season and fill in the gaps with some imports.

How to enjoy our flowers:

Flower by the stem~ *New*

Each week a list will be curated for our availability. We have limited quantities of these items so best to get your orders in early. Our flower by the stem is inspired by wine lists, noting regions, colours and viewing notes to choose your flowers. You can order exactly what you want to DIY your own arrangement or give us a budget and pick a few flowers that pop out to you and we will make the "Florist's Recommendation".

Grab and go bouquets

These creations will come in a variety of premade sizes and colours making it easy to grab for yourself or for others. You can also add additional flowers to any of these arrangements. We wrap our flowers in Kraft paper and finish with twine or rafia. Ribbon is available at an extra fee.

Subscriptions

We are now offering subscriptions to our regular clients who know they want to enjoy flowers on a regular basis. These subscribers will get additional flowers at no extra cost plus extra perks month to month. They are available in two options.

The Weekender~ Great choice for grabbing an arrangement on your way home from work to enjoy for your time home. Pickups will be Fridays. Pickup in store only.

The Worker Bee~ This choice is for your Monday-Friday enjoyment of florals at your work space. Delivery options available for an extra fee for these and of course pick up in store is always no cost. These arrangements are made for Monday pickups.

Custom Creations

We love doing custom creations and we work with any budget. You can use our Flower by the Stem menu to see what we have going on for the week. Prebooks are recommended for very specific colour palettes and flowers and 2 weeks minimum is needed. No flower is ever 100% guarantee due to climate, transport or other unforeseen circumstances, but we strive do our best to make the perfect peice for our customers.

Repotting Services

LET US TO THE DIRTY WORK!

You may have lack of knowledge, skill, time or just don't want to deal with dirt in your home. We offer in-store potting services for all your plant babies.

Our prices range from $1-3 dollars per inch of soil. There is a range because some plants require more work to repot then others. For example a plant that is extremely root bound and compacted takes extra time and attention to untangle the roots safely.

Prices

$1-3    Soil per inch of pot diameter.

For example a 4" replant can cost $4-12. Why the range? Well some peoples plants come in a state after not being repotted for years. It takes a very long time to tangle the roots together to do our best to prevent transplant shock. Some plants are very straightforward so you will get the base price for these plants. All of our plants are potted with our in aroid, thirsty plant mix (both made in house) or cactus mix. We can do even more custom mixes for things like fruit trees, bonsais and more with special requests.

We typically recommend to plant into a plastic nursery pot and place this into a the cover pots, but that's not always an option. When possible we will reuse plastic nursery pots at no extra charge.
