About

Hi! I'm Meaghan, founder of 'The Botanist'. My original roots come from the beauty industry. For over 20 years I've had the privilege of connecting with people through the art of hair. In recent years I have delved into improving my lifestyle to be more healthful. I finally started to keep plants alive indoors and started gardening and growing microgreens around the same time. Plants brought life to my space and caring for them for me was very therapeutic, not to mention the proven health benefits of being around nature (I brought the jungle inside). Learning how to grow my own food connected me on a whole new level, not to mention the appreciation I gained for farmers and having grocery stores when my crops failed. To me plants are everything, they liven up spaces, they clean our air, they store carbon, they are our food. My goal is to help people learn about how they can use plants to amplify their lives, grow community and learn how we can together work on sustainability in a modern world for a better future.

Create, connect and cultivate.

Meet The Team

Wendy

An avid gardener and all around good human. Wendy and I connected at the Inglewood community garden and it's been good vibes ever since. She's top of the list when it comes to keeping houseplants alive. In the garden she's willing to do all the fun jobs like weeding and is so giving- volunteering weekly to work the farm side to grow food for the community. Her fave things to grow in the garden are sunflowers and drunken women lettuce!

Brianna

The ultimate houseplant lover! When she's not at the shop she spends a lot of her time volunteering at the local animal shelter. She loves animals so much in fact that she is in uni to work towards her dreams of becoming a vet. Mom to an adorable beardie named Lily her fave plant is....well there's too many to list, but she's a sucker for the classic Monstera deliciosa aka Swiss cheese plant.

Sophie

This gem is a third generation florist and her creativity knows no bounds. She metalsmith her own jewelry line with timeless minimalist designs. Everything she touches becomes art!

Bouquets By The Botanist

FRESH CUT FLOWERS

Every week on Fridays we release the majority of our hand tied bouquets... #FRESHCUTFRIDAYS. We want to bring the beauty and art of cut flowers to your home for the ultimate enjoyment:)

We try our best to take custom requests, we are a small operation and are not able to take large events or weddings at this time.

Flowers change with the season and so we draw inspiration from what is available through out the year. In summer we plan on working with local farmers and community gardens.

Bring, Borrow or Buy Vase Program

A raise of hands for someone who has waaaay too many vases at home?! Or perhaps you want to gift some beautiful flowers (for yourself or others), but don't really want the cost of buying the vase? At The Botanist we firmly believe in reusing  what we can so we started our bring, borrow or buy vase program.

Bring- bring your vase in to us in advance and we can create your arrangement directly into the vase with your requested budget.

Borrow- borrow one of vases and bring back when you can. Total old school honour system here-no deposit or additional fee just trust in our awesome customers to come back and visit again.

Buy- Some of our vases are a touch special/expensive like our hand painted collections and these bad boys will be available for purchase only!

Prebooks

For special occasions we will often do prebook. This will guarantee a bouquet in your price range, however the exact flowers will always be suspect to change. We always work our hardest to get what customers want within reason and our ability!

Repotting Services

LET US TO THE DIRTY WORK!

You may have lack of knowledge, skill, time or just don't want to deal with dirt in your home. We offer in-store potting services for all your plant babies.

Our prices range from $1-3 dollars per inch of soil. There is a range because some plants require more work to repot then others. For example a plant that is extremely root bound and compacted takes extra time and attention to untangle the roots safely.

We have a variety of pots that can be used to plant directly into with drainage holes in saucers including terracotta, ceramic and hybrid resins. We typically recommend to plant into a plastic nursery pot and place this into a the cover pots, but that's not always an option. When possible we will reuse plastic nursery pots at no extra charge.
