About the teacher:

Elena Bushan is a lifelong artist who brings creativity into everything she does. Best known throughout Calgary for her large-scale murals that transform urban spaces, commissioned murals and original artwork can be found in public and private spaces across Canada. Projects include Parks Canada as well as private commissions for Canada, United States and Europe.

Working in a variety of mixed media, Elena creates expressive portraits, landscapes, botanical works, and pieces inspired by the magical and mystical. Her distinctive style blends bold colour, rich texture, and imaginative storytelling, making her artwork instantly recognizable.

🎨 Botanical Painting Workshops

Slow down, breath and connect with the moment. 

Join local artist Elena Bushan for a series of botanical painting workshops inspired by the plants; and flowers of the season. Throughout our summer schedule each class will feature a different botanical subject either floral or plant inspired using real life references. 

Whether you're a complete beginner or an experienced artist, these classes are about connecting with art, each other and your subject. Elena will guide you through her creative process while helping you build confidence with colour, composition, and brush techniques. You'll leave with your own finished botanical painting and a new appreciation for the intricate beauty of the natural world. ALL LEVELS WELCOME. Please note images are used for references only and will be chosen closer to workshop date depending on availability and seasonality.

When booking your class please be sure to double check dates your want to attend.  The days we are offering two different times in one day you can choose if you want to paint the flower or plant reference.

Workshop Booking Policy

Thank you for registering for a workshop at The Botanist! We put a great deal of care into preparing each class, including ordering fresh materials and reserving your space.

Cancellations

• 7 days or more before your workshop: Eligible for a full refund.

• Less than 7 days before your workshop: Eligible for a transfer to another workshop date or store credit. 

• 48 hours or less before your workshop: Non-refundable and not eligible for store credit or transfer, as materials have already been purchased and prepared.

No-Shows

• Participants who do not attend their workshop without prior notice are not eligible for a refund, store credit, or transfer.

Transfer Your Spot

• Workshop registrations are 100% transferable. If you are unable to attend, you are welcome to send a friend or family member in your place. Please let us know before the class so we can update our attendance list.

Workshop Cancellations by The Botanist

• In the unlikely event that The Botanist needs to cancel or reschedule a workshop due to low enrolment, instructor illness, severe weather, or unforeseen circumstances, you may choose a full refund, store credit, or transfer to another workshop date.
