Hoya | Endauensis
Hoya | Endauensis
Botanical name: Hoya endauensis
Common name: Endau Hoya
Origin: Malaysia — lowland tropical forests of Endau-Rompin National Park
Family: Apocynaceae
Light:
Prefers bright, indirect light. Ideal near an east or south-facing window with filtered sun. Avoid harsh direct rays that can burn foliage, but ensure plenty of brightness to promote blooming and strong growth.
Water:
Allow the top 2–3 cm of soil to dry before watering again. Water thoroughly and let excess drain — hoyas dislike soggy roots. In winter, water less frequently as the plant’s growth slows.
Humidity and Temperature:
Thrives in warm, humid conditions between 18–28 °C (65–82 °F). Mist occasionally or use a humidity tray to maintain at least 60% humidity, especially during dry winter months.
Soil:
Use a loose, well-draining mix — a combination of orchid bark, perlite, and coco coir or peat works well. Good airflow around the roots helps prevent rot.
Feeding:
Feed every 4–6 weeks in spring and summer with a diluted, balanced fertilizer or orchid feed. Pause feeding during the winter rest period.
Growth Habit:
An epiphytic vine with slender, glossy leaves and clusters of deep maroon-red blooms. Slow-growing but long-lived, ideal for hanging planters or climbing supports.
Tips
- Allow the plant to become slightly root-bound to encourage flowering.
- Clean leaves gently with a damp cloth to remove dust.
- Once buds appear, avoid moving the plant, as hoyas may drop buds when disturbed.
Plants in picture will not be exact plant. Plants and pots sold separately. Shipping of plants is weather permitted. Please note occasional breakage of 2–3 leaves is normal
