Botanical name: Dischidia geri
Common name: Geri Dischidia
Kingdom: Plantae
Family: Apocynaceae
Genus: Dischidia
Origin: Southeast Asia, particularly the Philippines
Light:
Dischidia geri prefers bright, indirect light. It can tolerate some direct morning sunlight but should be protected from harsh afternoon rays, which can scorch the leaves. If grown indoors, place it near an east- or north-facing window. In low-light conditions, the plant’s growth may slow, and its trailing stems may become leggy.
Water:
This plant thrives in high humidity and appreciates regular watering, but it is also sensitive to overwatering. Allow the top inch of the growing medium to dry out between waterings. During the active growing season (spring and summer), keep the soil slightly moist. In winter, reduce watering frequency. Always ensure the pot has good drainage to prevent root rot.
Fertilizer:
Feed monthly during the growing season with a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer diluted to half strength. Avoid fertilizing during the plant’s dormant period in fall and winter. Over-fertilizing can lead to salt build-up, which may damage the roots.
