Guava 1 Gallon
Guava 1 Gallon
Botanical name: Psidium guajava
Common name: Guava
Kingdom: Plantae
Family: Myrtaceae
Genus: Psidium
Origin: Tropical regions of Central America, Mexico, and northern South America
Light:
Guava trees thrive in full sun. They require at least 6–8 hours of direct sunlight daily to produce healthy foliage and fruit. If grown indoors or in a greenhouse, position the plant near a south-facing window or use grow lights to supplement natural light.
Water:
Water young guava plants regularly to establish a deep, extensive root system. Once mature, guava trees are moderately drought-tolerant but still benefit from consistent watering, especially during flowering and fruiting. Allow the top 1–2 inches of soil to dry out between waterings. Avoid waterlogging, as it can lead to root rot.
Fertilizer:
Feed guava trees with a balanced fertilizer (e.g., 10-10-10 NPK) every 1–2 months during the growing season (spring through fall). For fruiting, a fertilizer high in potassium can help improve yield and quality. Organic compost or well-rotted manure can also be incorporated into the soil once or twice a year to boost overall health.
